Wien (OTS) – Der Sieg in Basel hat nach elf Jahren den ESC wieder
nach Österreich
geholt. Bis 4. Juli konnten interessierte Städte ihre
Bewerbungsunterlagen für die Ausrichtung des Eurovision Song Contest
2026 einreichen. Die Städte Innsbruck und Wien haben ihre
Bewerbungsunterlagen fristgerecht eingereicht. Es folgten erste
Lokalaugenscheine in der Olympiaworld Innsbruck und der Wiener
Stadthalle. Beide Städte wurden daraufhin eingeladen, ihre Konzepte
zu konkretisieren und ein finales Angebot zu legen. Auf dieser
Grundlage startet der ORF nun in vertiefende Gespräche mit beiden
Bewerberinnen.
ORF-Generaldirektor Roland Weißmann: „Mit Wien und Innsbruck haben
wir zwei sehr spannende und vielversprechende Bewerbungen vorliegen.
Beide Städte bringen gute Rahmenbedingungen und spürbare Begeisterung
für den ESC mit. Wir freuen uns auf die nächsten Schritte und auf den
weiteren Austausch in den kommenden Wochen.“
Michael Krön, Executive Producer des ESC 2026: „Ich danke den
Projektteams aus beiden Städten für ihre umfassenden und ebenso
plausiblen wie kreativen Bewerbungen. Auf Grundlage der Unterlagen
starten wir jetzt die Verhandlungen und werden uns dabei die Zeit
nehmen, alle relevanten Aspekte im Detail zu erörtern.“
Die Entscheidung, welche Stadt die Host City des Eurovision Song
Contest 2026 wird, wird voraussichtlich in der zweiten Augusthälfte
bekannt gegeben.

Eurovision Song Contest 2026 – ORF enters negotiations with Innsbruck
and Vienna
The victory in Basel has brought the Eurovision Song Contest back to
Austria after eleven years. Interested cities had until July 4th to
submit their applications to host the Eurovision Song Contest 2026.
Innsbruck and Vienna submitted their documents on time, and after an
initial on-site visit to Olympiaworld Innsbruck and Vienna’s
Stadthalle, ORF will enter negotiations with both applicants. Both
cities were invited to refine their concepts and submit a final
offer. Based on this, ORF is now entering in-depth discussions with
both candidates.
ORF General Director Roland Weißmann stated: „With Vienna and
Innsbruck, we have two very interesting applications. Both
fundamentally offer the conditions to appropriately host the world’s
largest TV entertainment event.“ He added that both cities bring good
conditions and palpable enthusiasm for the ESC. „We look forward to
the next steps and further exchanges in the coming weeks.“

project teams from both cities for their comprehensive and equally
plausible and creative applications. Based on the documents, we are
now starting negotiations and will take the time to discuss all
relevant aspects in detail.“
The decision on which city will be the host city for the Eurovision
Song Contest 2026 is expected to be announced in the second half of
August.
